Dumpster Do's and Don'ts
Roll-off dumpsters are a popular way to dispose of various types of waste. However, you cannot place all trash in a dumpster. It is essential to understand what is allowed and prohibited to avoid extra charges and ensure proper disposal in a roll-off dumpster rental.
Electrical appliances, such as small kitchen appliances, are acceptable for disposal, but oversized items like refrigerators and washing machines require unique disposal methods due to their size and hazardous materials. Construction debris such as wood, drywall, bricks, and concrete are allowed, but you can't throw dangerous materials like asbestos, paint, chemicals, and batteries in the dumpster. Placing materials like household furniture, like sofas and chairs, is allowed. Still, hazardous furniture like mattresses and box springs requires special disposal methods due to their size and potential to harbor bed bugs.
Roofing shingles made of asphalt and fiberglass can are allowed in a roll-off dumpster, but those containing hazardous materials like asbestos or other harmful chemicals are prohibited. Yard waste like grass clippings, leaves, and branches are allowed, but hazardous yard waste like pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizer should not be placed in the dumpster.
